What is involved at GCSE?
At GCSE, we focus on Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Using a variety of resources and materials, each lesson is designed to develop specific exam skills. You will build strong speaking and communication skills and be able to hold confident conversations on a range of topics. Strong linguists should consider taking two languages.
How is the course structured, and which exam board do we use?
At GCSE with Edexcel, the GCSE Languages qualification is focused on fostering communication, broadening perspectives, introducing new cultures and developing students into global citizens.

What skills do I need to be successful in this subject?
To succeed in a Modern Foreign Language, you should have good literacy skills and a strong work ethic. Attention to detail and a willingness to always try are essential. Additionally, you should be interested in learning about other countries and cultures. Students who study a Modern Foreign Language (or two) at GCSE develop resilience, independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
How will GCSE French/German/Spanish help me prepare for my future?
Modern Foreign Languages are considered facilitating subjects by many colleges and universities. For some, a GCSE in a foreign language is even an entry requirement for any course.
