The theory element of the course accounts for 70% of the overall mark.
The exam board is AQA.
What skills do I need to be successful in the subject?
You must have both a strong practical ability and theoretical knowledge. You should be achieving at least 70% in your Yr7 and 8 assessments. Falling short of this level will make it incredibly difficult to achieve a grade 4 at the end of the course. You should have at least one specialism which you must play to a high standard outside of school, for a recognised club - you will need this in order to gain a good practical mark and to complete the coursework requirements. A willingness to learn new sports and spend extra time outside of school to develop upon your skills. You will be required to join a school club and take part in team fixtures - you must also be attending a club outside of school which is part of a recognised competition. As this is a science-based subject, the theory side of the course requires the same academic skills as Science GCSE.
